lyrics

Dashboard confession: My job's taking its toll.
I get no respect, at least I've got self control
to keep me from running someone off the road.
Asphalt and traffic made me mean to the bone,
'gave me a rage I never thought I could own.
I become livid. My temper, forgive it. I turn into someone I don't know.
I am normally one at peace with the world, quietly
counting the miles I'll go
before somebody suddenly squeezes in front of me
and then decides to go slow.
I lose control,
'cause when I'm tired and all alone,
these eighteen tires follow them home.
Drive-by concessions: Breakfast in bed, alone.
The back of the cab is like my house on the road.
To all the cars in the lots at the rest-stops: Be quiet! You're outside my home.
I need scenery, greenery, shady trees, bumble bees.
These are the things I miss most
as I fall asleep breathing in diesel and gasoline.
this 'aint the life that I chose, oh-oo-oh-oo-no!
I went for a drive so long ago.
When I arrive, please let me know.
When the road you're on goes on, and has no end in sight,
be glad you have the kind of job where you're home every night.
So when you're on your way to work and trying to save time,
just keep in mind that we're all tired, and don't cut in from the right,
'cause I'm normally one at peace with the world, quietly
counting the miles I'll go
before somebody suddenly squeezes in front of me
and then decides to go slow.
I lose control,
'cause when I'm tired and all alone,
these eighteen tires follow them home.
I went for a drive so long ago, Oh-oo-oh-oo. Oh-oo-oh-oo...
When I arrive, please let me know it's the end of the road and welcome me home.
Dashboard confession: I am easily raged.
'Hang up my keys, and keep that truck far away.
